Privacy Policy — CleanPhone

Last updated: 24 October 2026

CleanPhone does not collect any data.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains exactly what that means, because "we don't collect data" is a sentence many apps write while collecting data.

What is collected

Nothing. CleanPhone has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no trackers. There is no database anywhere holding anything about you, because there is nowhere for one to be.

Apple's App Store listing for this app carries the "Data Not Collected" label, which is the same statement in Apple's words.

Your photos and videos

CleanPhone reads your photo library, with your permission, to find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, blurry photos, Live Photos and large videos. Everything is analysed on your iPhone by Apple's own frameworks. No photo, video or anything about one is ever uploaded.

CleanPhone only changes your library when you ask it to, and iOS asks you to confirm each time:

To make the next scan fast, CleanPhone keeps some measurements on your iPhone: file sizes, image fingerprints, sharpness scores and, for possible duplicate screenshots, a fingerprint of their words — never the words themselves. It saves the last results too: which photos are on each list, so they show as soon as you open the app. And it remembers your own choices: which photos you kept or piled while swiping, which photo you set as the best of a set, which similar sets you chose to keep, which photos you marked "Not Blurry", and which contacts you chose to keep separate. All of this stays on the device and is removed with the app.

Photos stored only in iCloud

If you use iCloud Photos with Optimize iPhone Storage, some originals live only in iCloud. When you tap Download and Check, remove Live, compress, or look at such a photo, and for the next 12 photos while you swipe, CleanPhone asks iOS to download them from your own iCloud Photos, through Apple. Nothing goes the other way.

Your contacts

CleanPhone asks for access to your contacts only when you open its Contacts screen, never before. It reads them to find duplicates and contacts with missing details, and changes them only when you merge or delete.

Contacts have no Recently Deleted, so before a merge or a delete CleanPhone saves the affected contacts on your iPhone, so that Undo can restore them. Only the last change is kept. Notes are not included, because iOS does not let apps read contact notes.

What the app can access

CleanPhone requests no other permissions. It does not ask for your location, your camera, your microphone or anything else, and cannot access them.

Network connections

Share Feedback opens your own mail app with the app's version filled in; nothing is sent unless you send it. The rating prompt is Apple's own.

Purchases

CleanPhone Pro, bought once or as a 7-day pass, is handled entirely by Apple. Payment details are never seen by the developer. Whether Pro is unlocked, and until when a pass runs, is stored only on your device.

Third-party code

None. CleanPhone uses only Apple's frameworks and code written for this app: no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking code of any kind.

Children

CleanPhone collects nothing from anyone, of any age, and contains no advertising and nothing to sign up for.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes, the change will be described here with a new date and, because it would have to be a change in the app's behaviour, in the app's release notes.
