ConverterKit — Support
Getting started
Pick a tab for the kind of file you have — Image, Video, Audio or Doc — then pick what you want to do. You choose the files after that, so nothing is selected for a conversion that turns out not to be offered.
Common questions
Where did my converted file go? Files › On My iPhone › ConverterKit. It stays there until you delete it. Conversions made from the share sheet arrive there the next time you open the app.
Why can't I find ConverterKit in the share sheet? iOS puts new extensions under More until you pin them. Tap the share button, scroll to More, then Edit, and pin ConverterKit to the top row. iOS controls that list; no app can promote itself in it.
Why is my converted photo bigger than the original? HEIC is roughly twice as efficient as JPEG, so a HEIC photo converted to JPEG legitimately grows. ConverterKit's rows show a real, measured size before you tap — compare it with your file's size, shown just above the row — rather than a warning banner, so watch that number. Converting to HEIC, or using Compress, makes it smaller.
Why won't a one-hour video compress to 25 MB? Because it can't. An hour of video at 25 MB leaves about 55 kbps for picture and sound together, which no encoder can make watchable. ConverterKit will not offer a target it cannot meet — it tells you the smallest honest size for that clip instead, and for long recordings offers "50% smaller" and "75% smaller" instead of a fixed number.
What does Pro include? Changing format is always free — images, video, audio and PDF, one file at a time. Pro adds the tools: Compress (images, video and PDFs), Resize, Change speed, Extract audio, Remove sound, Merge PDFs, Remove metadata, and converting several files at once. One payment, no subscription.
I bought Pro and it's locked. Settings › Restore purchase. Purchases are tied to the Apple Account that bought them, so use the same one. If it still says nothing was found, the purchase may not have completed — check your App Store purchase history.
Does anything get uploaded? No. Every conversion runs on the device. See the Privacy Policy.
Which formats are supported? Out: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, MP4 (H.264), HEVC, GIF, MP3, M4A, WAV, PDF. In: those, plus WebP, MOV, most camera and screen recordings, and anything else iOS can read. WebP can be opened but not created — Apple's frameworks cannot write it.
Does it work without a network? Yes, entirely — apart from buying or restoring Pro, which goes through Apple.
Requirements
